Those looking to pursue a career in the public sector can join the nationwide Independence Day job fairs on Sunday, a labor official said Thursday.
“I haven’t seen the breakdown yet. But in previous job fairs, it offered 10,000 vacancies under the government sector,” Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay said in a virtual forum.
She said public sector vacancies are among the 135,500 jobs available in these activities.
“Number one on the list is the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and Bureau of Internal Revenue. They are our frequent participants during job fairs,” she added.
She said some 1,000 local and overseas employers are participating in the event.
Among the top local jobs available are production operator, customer service representative, jail officers (government), micro finance officer /loan officer, sewer, and sewing mechanic.
The top vacancies for employment abroad are nurse, factory worker, household service worker (HSW), carpenter, mason and cleaner.
The main venue of the Sunday’s program will be the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in Malolos, where DOLE officials led by Secretary Silvestre Bello III are expected to attend together with other stakeholders.
The National Capital Region will be holding three job fairs at the Robinsons Place Manila, Pasig City Sports Complex and Vista Mall in Taguig City.
A job fair will also be held in Fortunate Village ClubHouse Gymnasium in Parañaque City on June 14.
Tutay said the complete listing of the job fairs nationwide can be viewed at the Bureau of Local Employment website, ble.dole.gov.ph. (PNA)
