The local government is set to create the City Department of Public Order and Safety (CDPOS), primarily tasked with the responsibility of keeping the city safe.
City Administrator Mario Yanga said Wednesday that as a growing city, there is a need for an office to oversee the maintenance of order through the strict enforcement of existing ordinances and effective traffic management.
Yanga, who proposed the creation of the CDPOS, said it will improve the coordination among security and emergency offices through its security command center.
“Uploading these functions from the city administrator’s office will help us focus our oversight role in supervising and coordinating the different functions of our city departments and offices,” Yanga said in a statement.
He said the CDPOS will also allow him to focus on his primordial role as principal advisor to the city mayor.
“There will be more time in providing sound recommendations and developing plans and strategies for the effective and efficient management of city government operations,” he said.
He appealed for the support of the executive and legislative branches for his proposal, as it is in line with the present administration’s mission of transforming the city government into a more responsive and efficient leadership. (PNA)
