A woman who knows all about invincibility—marking the rock music scene as a singer, songwriter, guitarist, record producer, and an educator for 60 long years—creating history as a member of the pioneering all-female rock band ‘Fanny’.

She is June Millington, a half Filipina representative who’s been breaking the gender barrier in the music industry, is set to be inducted into the 2022 Class of the New England Music Hall of Fame (NEMHOF).

June Elizabeth Millington, Filipino American rock music icon from Fanny, the classic rock ensemble from the 1970s is among the list of 12 inductions by 2019 founded New England Music Hall of Fame will have this year.

She is set to be inducted at the induction ceremony that will be held at the Boxboro Regency Hotel and Conference Center in Boxborough, Massachusetts on April 8.

Born in Manila to a Filipino Mother, Millington is the eldest among the seven children who lived in the Philippines then later moved to California.

The female rock icon is known to be the co-founder of ‘Fanny’, the first all-female band signed to a major record label along with her sister Jean Millington- her fellow music enthusiasts.

Fanny’s sound easily fits into the increasingly eclectic 21st-century rock world. The band’s glam hippie vibe, which is fantastic but not fussy, is similar to that of popular touring acts such as Lake Street Dive or Banditos. Its mix of pop and hard rock is like Haim’s, and its multiculturalism is La Luz.

Millington also co-founded a nonprofit organization located in the Western Massachusetts town of Goshen called the Institute for the Musical Arts.

Through the institute, Millington is able to hold rock camps for teen girls- her pioneering career that’s been continuously working to make women visible in the music scene.

This year, Millington marked another milestone with her co-members in Fanny as the award-winning Bobbi Jo Hart directed documentary “Fanny” The Right to Rock”, the incredible untold story of a “Filipina American garage band that morphed into the ferocious rock group Fanny, which almost became the female version of the Beatles” has hit success.

The newly founded New England Music Hall of Fame will also induct music icons including David “Lefty” Foster, Christine “The Beehive Queen” Ohlman, Cliff Goodwin, Bruce John, Paul Gabriel, Bobby T Torello, Jimi Bell, Marci, and Jim Hooper, June Millington, Joseph Firecrow, Greg Piccolo, and a surprise inductee that will later be announced according to the release.
